A 6 weeks supplementation with omega 3 has no effect on cycling performance. Moreover, it do not alter do not alter immune and inflammation measures

23 cyclists received 2.4 g/d fish oil n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids for 6 weeks, before and during the 3days exercise. During this 3-d period, they cycled for 3 hr/d at ~57% W(max) with 10-km time trials inserted during the final 15 min of each 3-hr bout.
This supplementation results in increased blood EPA and DHA levels. However, it has no effect on 10-km time-trial cycle performance and on immune-function and inflammation parameters (plasma cytokines, myeloperoxidase, blood total leukocytes, serum C-reactive protein, and creatine kinase).

This research challenges the notion that supplementation with omega 3 can increase the parformance ... To be continued ...
