INFORMED-SPORT is a supplement testing program, designed to test supplements and/ or their ingredients for inadvertent contamination with substances prohibited in sport.

Research has shown that some supplement products have been found to be contaminated with low levels of steroids and stimulants that are prohibited by WADA, the World Anti-Doping Agency. The INFORMED-SPORT program aims to work closely with supplement manufacturers and suppliers by providing high quality analytical testing to minimize the incidence of banned contaminants finding their way into sport.

For me, this type of program is mostly marketing to reassure consumers.

- In most of country, foods are controlled and brands have obligation to provide all the ingredients on the labels. So when you buy products of a serious brand, you normally can’t have problems. To avoid problems, avoid buying unknown products on the internet. I don’t think anyone could have doping problems eating sport food if you take only serious brand.

-Moreover, it is impossible to control each batch for all banned substances because it is very expensive and difficult. So a batch may be contaminated and not considered as such.

I think this initiative is good for high-level sportsmen and medical staff to protect themselves against doping problems (and do not take risks). For brands, it is an additional way to show that they are serious. To resume, with the program informed-sport all can withdraw from any liability.
