In a review, the author gives practical recommendations for hydration of tennis players.
The physiological constraints of tennis players are different from those of an endurance athlete. For example, tennis is an alternation of intense effort and rest periods for several hours. The tennis players may sweat a lot, especially in hot and humid (up to 2.5 liters per hour) but have little time to rehydrate properly. They are therefore advised to consume at least 20 cl of sport drink at each change. The best is to drink up to 40 cl. Of course, these hydration strategies should be tested uring training to optimize them for the competition.
